SAN JOSE, Calif. - Firefighters in San Jose have responded to three blazes in less than two hours, including one that destroyed a home.
San Jose Fire Capt. Debbie Ward says the first report came in around 3:51 a.m. Thursday. The one-alarm blaze damaged a mixing and asphalt machine at a road construction business.
The second fire was reported a little more than an hour later at a home not far from the first fire.
The last call _ a three alarm blaze _ came in a few minutes later. The home's resident, Shirley Furtado, says she was returning home from a walk with her dog around 5:10 a.m. when she heard a loud boom and saw smoke. Fire officials say a severed gas line may have caused the blaze.
Furtado's home was destroyed, and she thinks her dogs died in the blaze.
There were no other reports of injuries.
