As October is well known to be Breast Cancer Awareness Month and duly symbolized by pink ribbons, an effort is underway to turn November into Movember for the purpose of raising awareness and funds to combat men's cancers.  Mo' is Australian slang for "mustache" and the Movember Foundation promotes the wearing of a mustache in lieu of a colored ribbon.

As fighting fire is still a very male dominated field, I wanted to take a moment to put some information out there that guys need to know:

- About 217,730 new cases of prostate cancer will be diagnosed this year

- About 32,050 will die from prostate cancer this year

- It is estimated that 1 in 6 men will be diagnosed with prostate cancer at some point in their lives

- One man out of every 35 will die of prostate cancer

Guys, I know it's not a thrill for most to get a prostate exam or have blood drawn to get your PSA checked, but please, do so - this cancer is reasonably treatable if caught early.

For more information please visit our Movember page at the link below.  If you feel inclined to make a donation to our team of mustache growers, please feel welcomed to do so and help us stamp out this evil disease.

Best wishes,
