JENNINGS, Mo.--A house fire in Jennings has killed a 19-year-old woman and injured four other people.

Fire Chief Joseph Zlotopolski told The St. Louis Post-Dispatch that a 6-year-old boy is among the injured. He said when firefighters arrived at the scene early Sunday, three of the home's five residents had jumped out a second-story window.

Firefighters rescued 6-year-old Deven Williams from a second-story bedroom. The 19-year-old woman was found unresponsive in another bedroom and was pronounced dead at a hospital. The boy is in critical condition.

The three people who jumped from the house were taken to a St. Louis hospital, but their conditions were not immediately known.

Fire officials said the fire started in a first-floor bedroom. Zlotopolski said he was told the family had been using a space heater because the gas had recently been shut off.

I don't know all the details but thank you gas company for shutting these people off. I guess they were concerned about their fourth quarter profits...
According to the Commerce Dept today Corporate Americas profit for the third quarter equaled 1.66 TRILLION based on an annual rate. Go figure...
