BLACK JACK, Mo. - A 4-year-old girl remains in intensive care after firefighters in the St. Louis County town of Blackjack rescued her from a burning townhouse.


The fire happened Thursday night in the basement of the townhouse. The girl was inside with a woman and two teenagers. Her name was not released.

Authorities say firefighters went into the building and found the girl unconscious on the floor of a bedroom. She was taken by helicopter to St. Louis Children's Hospital.

Messages were left with the hospital seeking information on the girl's condition.
