West Peculiar firefighter dies fighting a mid-morning house fire

WEST PECULIAR, Missouri – A West Peculiar firefighter died Sunday while battling a house fire.

The Kansas City Star reports Grandview Fire Chief Ron Graham said the firefighter fell through the floor near the front of the door and into the basement as firefighters made entry.

The Missouri Highway Patrol said in a different report to KSHB that firefighters were evacuating the house because the fire became too intense and when a roof collapse occurred, and one firefighter did not make it out.
