MOSS POINT, Miss. - A Moss Point firefighter has requested assistance from the NAACP after he said he found a "hangman's noose" in his living quarters at the fire department.

Capt. Rodger Mann tells The Sun Herald Thursday that he first reported the incident to the city on March 3, two days after he said he made the discovery.

He hasn't returned to work since, saying he's used up all of his accrued off time and has been refused further time off with pay despite a request to the city.

FBI Special Agent Tye Breedlove said that his agency had been informed of the incident, though he could neither confirm or deny whether they were investigating.

I'm not at all sure what you're saying here, C/B. Since these are, so far, unsubstantiated allegations, why is anyone talking about ignorance and hate?
You know I have to agree with Art, he may be harsh and blunt most of the time, but he brings up good points and studys these types of things out. Things in this report just dosent add up, I sure dont agree with the idea of a noose as a joke, but even if was, we have to think that maybe theres more that we dont know. I also feel that we need to look at how we joke, for now days we are living in a diff society. People are so sue happy and with the economy and the hole mess most of us are going threw dosent take much to set them off. Whats funny to some may not be the case with the other. We all just need to have some common sence and unless you realy know the person I feel keep the jokes light and be carefull. I do feel that even jokeing with a noose is just cold and shouldent even go there, and I sure hope that if it was indeed a true incedent and the intent was a threat. That the person at falt is dicciplined properly, and not just a slap on the wrist. Incidents like this rather it be made up, a joke, or a real threat is not the kind of a thing we need in the fireservice. So I will keep this on the back burner till the investigation is complete, im sure this will get more interesting when the facts come out.
