SALTILLO, Miss. - A volunteer fireman has died shortly after the department left the scene of a fire.

Lee County Coroner Carolyn Gillentine-Green says 26-year-old Joshua Wilkes collapsed in a convenience store after going inside to get a drink around 4 p.m. Sunday.

She says Wilkes and another firefighter were returning to the department with a truck and had stopped to fill it with gasoline.

Gillentine-Green says an autopsy will be done to determine the cause of death.

Wilkes was a member of the Unity Fire Department.
