LEWISTON, Minn. - The westbound lanes of Interstate 90 have reopened after a semi-truck carrying large blocks of cheese crashed in a fiery explosion in southeastern Minnesota.

The truck driver, Glen Boyer of Le Mars, Iowa, was flown to Gundersen Lutheran Hospital in La Crosse, Wis., after the early Monday crash. Boyer's condition was not available, but an investigator told the Post-Bulletin of Rochester his injuries were not life-threatening.

The eastbound semi crossed four lanes of I-90 and crashed about 6:45 a.m. Westbound traffic was closed for about an hour.

The truck hit an embankment over a Winona County road, then tumbled down a hillside.

Officials from the Minnesota Department of Transportation inspected the county road's bridge but found no major damage.

The crash is under investigation.
