HIGHLAND PARK, Mich. - Crews in Highland Park are battling several house fires that broke out overnight within blocks of each other between McNichols and the Davison Freeway.
Investigators said eight homes and one garage were set on fire starting around 11 p.m. Tuesday.
Firefighters were still dousing the homes with water more than six hours later.
All the homes were believed to be abandoned but fire did spread to a house that was occupied.
Police said two adults, one teen and two young children were inside that home.
No one was injured.
Highland Park firefighters had to call in several other departments to help battle the fires including Detroit and Hamtramck.
Investigators are calling the fires suspicious.
