Memphis Firefighters Rescue Four Occupants From High-Rise Fire

MEMPHIS, Tenn. - Firefighters had to pull four people out of a high-rise Memphis apartment building after they were trapped due to a fire on the eighth floor.

The fire at the Belvedere Apartments started Tuesday morning and was contained in about 20 minutes, but the stairwells were full of smoke and trapped some people who lived in the top floors.

WREG-TV reported that four people rescued from the 10-story building were being treated by paramedics. The rest of the building was evacuated and firefighters were checking each apartment.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
