Medical Helicopter Lands Hard on Utah Interstate

SALT LAKE CITY--Authorities say a medical helicopter was stranded on a Utah highway after a hard landing while responding to a vehicle crash.
University Hospital official Ryann Rasmussen tells the Salt Lake Tribune there were no injuries after a rear rotor of the AirMed helicopter clipped a road sign and the aircraft landed Monday on Interstate near Ogden.
Utah Highway Patrol Lt. John Mitchell told the newspaper the helicopter would need to be transported by flatbed for repairs.
Utah Highway Patrol Trooper Todd Johnson said the forced landing occurred while the helicopter was responding about 12:30 p.m. to a crash on Interstate 84 near 590 West.
The man involved in the crash was taken by ambulance to a hospital.

Happy ending for a change. Thank God (and the pilot) that they were able to set it down without crashing. There have been way too many Medevac crashes lately.

Landed "hard" did it...? When I was in the service and a pilot landed "hard" it was a polite term to mean he crashed it...

Like a pilot friend of mine says, "Any landing that you can walk away from is a good landing."
And I say, that's what pilots who suck at landing say to make themselves feel better!

Brian, that's why they are called pilots....they take an aircraft and pile it there or there or wherever.....
