Baltimore County fire officials say a 4-alarm fire caused extensive damage to at least one garden-style apartment building in Cockeysville.

Residents evacuated the building after the fire broke out around 11:40 p.m. Thursday at the Milestone Manor Apartments in the 200 block of St. David Court, but officials say no injuries were reported.

The fire quickly went to four alarms, drawing firefighters from at least a dozen stations.

A fire department communications officer says Maryland Transit Administration buses were dispatched to provide temporary shelter to the displaced residents and apartment management is expected to provide shelter in unoccupied apartments.

The cause and origin of the fire are under investigation.
