MALDEN, Mass. - At least five people are being treated for injuries after a fast-moving fire in Malden, including a 14-year-old girl who jumped from a second-floor window to escape the flames.
Fire officials say the three-alarm blaze started shortly before 9 a.m. and quickly engulfed the multi-family home.
Assistant Fire Chief Jack Colangeli said the teen who jumped was taken to a hospital with leg injuries.
Colangeli said a second 14-year-old girl was rescued by a Malden police officer and treated for burns. Another resident also suffered burns and two police officers were taken to a hospital with smoke inhalation.
The cause of the fire wasn't immediately known. The state Fire Marshal's office and local authorities are investigating.
