MONTAGUE, Mass. - Fire officials say a six-alarm blaze has destroyed a historic two-family home in Montague, leaving eight people homeless.
The fire broke out at about 8 p.m. on Sunday in the Millers Falls section of town.
Dozens of firefighters from 12 Franklin County communities helped battle the blaze. There were no immediate reports of injuries, but four adults and four children were left homeless. Firefighters also rescued a number of pets.
Homeowner Janet Dobias thinks a wood stove caught fire, but there was no official word on the case.
One neighbor says the home used to be a parsonage for a local church.
