FALL RIVER — The flower shop Carmen-Zita's was destroyed by a two-alarm fire late Wednesday night.

Firefighters arrived at the 1173 S. Main St. business, housed in a 1½ story wood-frame building, at 11:14 p.m., and brought the fire under control around 1:30 a.m., according to the Fall River fire department. Firefighters fought heavy fire coming from the front of the building, and the roof collapsed.

Firefighters were able to contain the fire to the building, and no injuries were reported. The building was vacant at the time of the fire, the fire department said.

Five engines and two ladder trucks responded to the blaze, with about 35 firefighters on the scene. The fire remains under investigation by Fall River fire investigators.
