Maryland Ladder Truck Involved In Crash While Responding To Fire Call

BLADENSBURG, Md. - A fire truck responding to a possible fire at the University of Maryland has crashed with a jeep in Bladensburg, sending six people to the hospital.

Prince George's County fire department spokesman Mark Brady says firefighters crashed with the Jeep Liberty shortly after 11:30 a.m. Friday. It happened at the intersection of Kenilworth Avenue and Decatur Street in Bladensburg.

Four people in the SUV, including three children, were taken to area hospitals to be treated for non-life threatening injuries. Two firefighters also were taken to an area hospital to be checked for injuries.

Brady says the truck was driving with its emergency lights and siren sounding. Both vehicles sustained considerable damage.

Police are investigating the cause of the crash.
