LIBERTYTOWN, Md. (WUSA) - Firefighters in Frederick County battled a raging structure fire in Libertytown Wednesday morning.
Officials tell 9 NEWS NOW the blaze was reported in the 9500 block of Woodsboro Road shortly after 7:00 Wednesday morning. A tanker task force had to be brought in to provide water to battle the blaze, due to the lack of hydrants in the area.
Battalion Chief Kenneth Poole with Frederick County Fire and Rescue says the burning building belongs to Vintage Lumber, a company that recycles old barns and houses. Poole says the building was filled with old recycled lumber when the flames broke out.
Right now firefighters have the blaze under control and contained. Poole says the remaining pockets of fire will be allowed to burn themselves out.
According to Poole, one worker at Vintage Lumber was injured as he tried to remove equipment from the building. He was taken to a local hospital with minor injuries.
Right now the blaze is under investigation by the Frederick County Fire Marshal's Office.
