Candy Hoover and her husband founded the Leah Hoover Memorial Fund after their daughter Leah died on February 13, 2005 from smoke inhalation during a house fire. Its mission is to raise money to help buy equipment for local law enforcement officers.

“It keeps her name out there. It's basically making something good come out of a horrible situation,” Candy Hoover says.
