NEW YORK - Officials say a manhole fire in Brooklyn has temporarily shut down some subway service in the area.

Firefighters say no injuries or evacuations have been reported in connection with the incident around noon Monday on Willow Place, near downtown Brooklyn.

New York City Transit spokesman James Anyansi says the fire knocked out power to a substation that serves several subway lines.

He says service remains suspended on the 4 line between the Fulton Street station in Manhattan and the Atlantic Avenue station in Brooklyn. Service was suspended on part of the 2 and 3 lines until about 1:15 p.m.
