Good morning everyone,

I have been bouncing an idea around for quite a while and recently I decided to act on it. Basically, I am looking to create a place where people in the emergency services (both Fire and EMS) can come and find a short drill on a variety of topics to do while on duty. I know that there are a lot of different websites out there that offer drill and training ideas (such as Fire Engineering, Firehouse magazine, firefighterclosecalls.com, etc).....however I really couldn't find one particular place that focuses on the storing and hosting of "short" drills designed to get crews out and do some effective training, but yet not take up the entire day.

Hence, http://www.30minutedrills.com was born.

What I am asking is if anyone would be interested in contributing a drill to be put on the site? As you will see if you check it out, I have posted one drill idea already. When a new drill idea is submitted, it will be "tagged" with keywords that apply to the idea (i.e. "hose", or "SCBA", etc). This will then populate the key words on the right hand side of the screen and allow users to find specific drills on a specific topic. My intent is to try and keep the drill ideas to short, 30 minute drills, however longer and more involved drills can be submitted as well.

I know that there is a lot of effort and creativity that is put into the making of these drills. PLEASE TAKE CREDIT FOR YOUR WORK!... At the end of the drill idea, please put your name, rank, department, or whatever other information that you would like people who visit the site to know about you. You may even choose to attach contact information so that those who utilize your drill ideas can contact you for further information, etc.

If you would like to submit a drill idea, I ask that you please navigate to http://www.30minutedrills.com and click on the submissions link under "Contact" on the right hand side of the page. This will then allow you to e-mail me directly the idea that you have, and I will then post it to the site.

A little about me.....I am currently a Lieutenant with the Sarasota County Fire Department in Sarasota FL. I am assigned to our department's Special Operations Team where I have been for the past 12 years. Being a newly promoted Lieutenant, I am always looking for new, creative drills that I can do with my crew. I am sure that there are others that are always on the look out for new material and I am hoping that this idea may help in that search.

One last note….The site is in its infancy….I have ideas for site design and such, however right now it’s pretty (very) basic. I am hoping that if it’s well received the site will continue to grow and mature as content and material is added.

Please let me know what you think. I love constructive criticism and would love to know what you guys and gals think of this idea.

Thanks for your time!
Ken
