I realize that there is a section for this. If you go to Categories and click "Line of Duty: Our Fallen and Injured", but it is a ways down the menu.

There has been some heated exchanges between posters because there is confusion over if it is a discussion thread on the death of a firefighter or a condolence thread. Many believe-myself included-that a condolence thread has no place for remarks surrounding the circumstances of the LODD.

I just left a reply in the News Article thread about this death, because it is NOT a condolence thread.

Anyone else got some thoughts on this?

TCSS.

I am with you on this. this is also a site that has the opition to follow the subject and beable to post condolences to the family.
I agree totally Chief.
I believe that there should be a direct link to the LODD section.
I also believe that condolence messages should be sent directly to the department and family of the LODD victim and not posted in the LODD forum. Every death of a brother or sister in service is a tragedy that everyone feels sad about. The forum needs to be about what we can learn from this LODD and how we can prevent someone else from the same fate
The forum should be used to share detailed factual knowledge about the incident that caused the LODD and once the facts are presented by those in the know the forum should share input from the firefighter nation on how to prevent repetition of the same type of LODD in the future.
I have to agree with all of you,
I agree. A place for condolences, without all of the "Armchair Quarterbacking".
Agreed with all...It would be nice so that we could give our sympathies as well as maybe even Honor them.
Me too. The theorizing about what happened, how and why, should be in a separate place altogether and should be posted later after the fallen have been duly honored.
