DANVILLE, Ill. - Fire officials say a house fire that killed two young Danville girls was started by a child playing with a lighter.

Danville Public Safety Director Larry Thomason told The News-Gazette newspaper in Champaign that interviews and evidence found in the home led investigators to conclude one of four children in the home started the fire by accident.

Vermilion County Coroner Peggy Johnson said 5-year-old Deziray Mott and 4-year-old Seiona Haywood were pronounced dead early Wednesday at the home. Autopsies are planned.

Johnson said two adults and two young boys got out of the house.

The Danville Fire Department and state fire marshal's office continue to investigate the blaze.
