Kevin O'Connor assistant to the IAFF general president stated in an article about the Assistance fire grant that career departments should get more funds than volunteer departments.
Stop and think for a minute where do you think the career people come from They were already on a Volunteer fire department before they applied for career.
Kevin were did he get his start in the Fire Service was he a volunteer stop this crap we all need assistance now a days we are suppose to be all equal BROTHERS and SISTERS we need to divide the money we can get we all put the same gear on and protect the people in our Fire Districts
We need to stop this Dog eat dog attitude or we will piss away the program all together and some other organization will get the money

I know that all departments are struggling these days but career depts have a larger budget to replace vehicles, ppe and so forth. They may be right vollies do get more grant money but who needs it more a career dept with a budget of let's say 2 million or a vollie dept that has a budget of fifty thousand. I know the large career dept that nieghbors mine gets some pretty good grant money often. We are in desperate need of a new pumper but we wont be able to come up with more money for the match.
