Hey nation, i'm a junior firefighter with Stewartsville (98) Fire. Ive been with them since August of this year. Firefighting is a tradition in my family, one of my uncles recently retired from the buisness, and my other uncle is currently the Asst. Cheif in Phillipsburg, so as you can see, it runs in my blood. I'm working my ass off to gain the respect of my fellow firefighters, and im loving every minute of it. Im open to all suggestions, advice, stories, etc. Post up!

Try doing a search, there are plenty of stories abound. Before asking some question like "what color is your helmet", "should you get a pager", "what to do on calls" etc...please, please use the search feature first. Keep your ears and eyes open and your mouth shut. There is a reason you have two of each and one of the other. Peruse the other jr and explorer threads out there before asking simple questions or before posting a topic. Many things have been covered before and may answer your questions without having a ton of similar threads. Good luck.
Congratulations, I'm also a Jr. Firefighter..I have been for 2 years. My dad has been on our dept. for 30 years. Without him, I wouldn't be on the dept. We are a small town fire dept. we have 35 firefighters 7 of us are paidmen. To gain respect on a fire dept, in my opinion, show up and do what you are assigned to do. Like me, I'm a pump operator on one of our engines. I go on fires when I can, in the mean time, I help wash hose, etc. Just do what you are assigned to do, and respect will fill in. Good luck.
