GREEN BAY, Wis. - Investigators are trying to determine what caused a fire that destroyed a building containing a liquor store and apartments in downtown Green Bay.

Fire investigator Capt. Chris Heil told the Green Bay Press-Gazette the damage likely will be close to $1 million in the fire that destroyed the Super Saver Liquor Store and eight apartments above.

The fire was discovered Friday afternoon. The last rig didn't leave until Saturday morning.

The Red Cross says the fire displaced five families _ nine adults and seven children.

One resident suffered burns. His condition was not available, but Heil says his injuries did not appear to be life threatening. Another tenant had to be rescued from the roof by ladder.
