Here is my response to your post concerning the duties of a Junior Captain:
I'm gonna go with young Fredrick on this one. If I came to one of you for an answer to a question and you responded to me in this tone, we'd be slippin' on some gloves behind the station...
Fredrick,
In order to find a list of your duties and responsibilities when taking on a position of leadership in the Jr. program,(or ANY program), there are several documents you want to locate. First would be an Organizational Chart. This will show you who you report to and who reports to you. Next would be a TOE Chart. This will show you what Tasks you are responsible for, it will show your Orders-What your assignments are during specific evolutions, and the Equipment you are assigned to use and maintain. Lastly, you need to get copies of your departments SOP/SOG for your Junior Program, and the department as well.
Armed with this information, you can learn your place in the department Chain-of-Command, your assignments and responsibilities, and the correct methods to accomplish your objectives. It's a lot to learn, but it's part of the job!

You know what, normally I would agree with you, but many have honestly tried to help the boy out and in turn he has ignored, and disrespected them. I just don't think he has the maturity level at this point in his life. I think he has a little more growing up to do. Not trying to be disrespectful here, just being honest.
I, too, tried to leave a comment for him, but he deleted his post before I was finished.
I didn't understand him in his question. Did he mean a "junior captain" or a captain who looked after juniors? I told him to look in his by-law manual and the info should be there.
Also, no disrespect towards you Reg.

Hi Derek,
No disrepect taken!! I was just a little perplexed by our attempts to reach out and encourage these Juniors to get involved and ask questions(yes, even when it's the same question for the umpteenth time), and slapping them down when the ask a question.
Fredrick may be struggling to learn to communicate, but at least he is interested in the service. My theory is that if we just continue to answer his questions in an adult and professional manner, he will eventually learn, or disappear...
As you probably know, training is repetition.
Just my opinion!
