DECATUR, Ill. - A 15-month-old baby, who was showing no signs of life when rescued from a burning home by Decatur firefighters, was revived by his rescuers.
Caleb Berg's mother, Susan Berg, told the Herald & Review newspaper she couldn't get into her son's bedroom as their home went up in flames early Tuesday.
A firefighter rushed in and handed the boy to another firefighter waiting outside the bedroom window.
Decatur Fire Chief Matt Sekosky said Caleb had no pulse and was revived by CPR.
Caleb's father, Rick Berg, says the baby is doing well. He is being treated for smoke inhalation at a Springfield hospital.
Fire officials say the home and most of its contents were destroyed. They say the cause of the fire is unknown.
