CHICAGO - Hundreds of Chicago firefighters are expected to attend funeral services for a colleague who died while battling a blaze at a vacant building.

The funeral for Firefighter Edward Stringer is scheduled Tuesday at St. Rita of Cascia Chapel in Chicago. His burial will be at Beverly Cemetery in suburban Blue Island.

Fellow firefighter Corey Ankum also died last Wednesday when a roof collapsed after the fire. Services for Ankum are scheduled later this week.

The roof collapse occurred while dozens of firefighters were searching the burned, vacant laundry building to make sure no vagrants were sheltering inside.
