I know it's good to be seen, and I think some light packages are pretty cool, but i think it get out of control once in a while. I know Pa simply says no more than 2 rotators visible 360 degrees, myself, I run a GALLS Responder DX with 2 rotators ans also a dash light, maybe this is too much, but I see vol. firefighters running grille lights, visor lights, bar lights in blue, I could see a chief officer running these, but if Blue are only courtesy lights, how many are too much. Also should there be a minimum, I mean if your gonna use a dash light, should you at least have some sort of rotator on top. If i can get a pic I'll post it.

I would support a federal law banning any lights to be used by firefighters.
They cause more problems than they solve.
They serve no useful purpose, other than to confuse the general motoring public and the people who are using them. The people driving don't feel obligated to pull over, because the light isn't RED. The person using the blue light believes that they can violate traffic laws and it also gives them the right to complain because someone didn't pull over for them. The krypton bulb does not make the user Superman.
Discussions of same would only be a misdemeanor.
No offense, but I don't like the "courtesy" lights.

What's this Art? You don't like the idea of a plethora of coloured lights heading in all directions when there's been an emergency call? What a spoilsport you are! Me too. Leave flashing lights to emergency vehicles; the public take little enough notice of them, non-emergency vehicles flashing all over the place can't help us at all.
i think that it would be up to the dept to set limits on the amounts of lights. but i do think if someone is going to have lights on their car there should be enough to be seen from the front and rear.

I like the idea that with the light on my truck people can see me especially at night when I might be on a downed power line or if I am on an ems run it is nice for the abulance to be able to see where we are when they come down the road
I've got a magnetic amber rotator that goes on the roof when I pull over on the side of the road for MVA's or other calls so no one hits my truck. Thats it. The only flashing lights on POV's should be your blinkers when you turn as you display courtesy while driving to a call.
My old Unit had a staion wagon with a sooper-dooper lightbar on it that was a mix of strobes and rotators.

The problem arose on scene as it was a low vehicle, the lights were just at the right height (or wrong!) to blind every person on scene and the oncoming drivers. It was too much!
