Homeless Man Rescued From Roof of Atlanta Waffle House

ATLANTA — Georgia authorities say man who was living on the roof of a Waffle House and was found unconscious there is recovering in a hospital.

Richmond County sheriff's Capt. Gerald Metzler said Wednesday the man appeared to have no physical injuries. His name was not released.

WJBF-TV reported that police and firefighters were called to the restaurant Tuesday when an air conditioning repairman found someone living on the roof.

Metzler said he didn't know how long the man had been on top of the Waffle House, or how he got up there. Police describe him as homeless.

Waffle House, which is headquartered in the Atlanta suburb of Norcross, opened its first restaurant in Avondale in 1955.

Waffle House spokeswoman Kelly Thrasher said, "We hope he's OK and we wish him well."
