LAWRENCE, Mass. - A homeless man accused of setting a building fire and series of brush fires in Lawrence over the weekend has been ordered held without bail.

Rarn Pak was arraigned Monday in district court on one count of arson of a building and four counts of arson of personal property value over $25 and was deemed by a judge as a danger to the community. No one was hurt in the fires Sunday.

Police say the 34-year-old Pak had two cigarette lighters in his pockets when he was arrested that he claimed he used to light his cigarettes. He was not in possession of any cigarettes.

Pak's lawyer acknowledged that there was probable cause to hold him.

Police say Pak is being investigated for possible connections to 14 other fires in the area.

That probably puts a damper for the mayor to accuse the FD for setting the fires.
