(AP) TULSA, Okla.

A Tulsa firefighter suffered only minor arm injuries when he was attacked by a man with a crowbar.

Spokesman Bill French says the firefighters were sent to put out a burning couch behind a house about 1:30 p.m. Tuesday. French says after the fire was put out they were approached by 59-year-old John Andrew Davis who threw a bucket at the firefighters and hit firefighter Rick Reed with the crowbar.

Other firefighters grabbed Reed and held him for police who arrested him for assaulting a firefighter, resisting arrest and starting an illegal open fire.

Workers at the nearby John 3:16 Mission say Davis is mentally unstable and homeless and often eats meals at the mission.
