PAINESVILLE, Ohio - A fire chief says an 83-year-old building that caught fire in an Ohio downtown can be saved but it will take some work.
The chief in Painesville say the Sunday afternoon fire in what's known as the Dorothy Allen building may have broken out in the kitchen of a restaurant that was closed at the time. Flames climbed to the second floor.
Other tenants include the Painesville Area Senior Center and Republican Party offices for Lake County, northeast of Cleveland.
Fire officials tell The News-Herald of Willoughby that no one was in the building when the fire started. No injuries were reported. The fire's cause has not been determined.
At various times, the building originally housed a post office, Western Union, a bus station and a Sears store.
