High Winds Fan Pennsylvania Auto Shop Fire

The high winds Wednesday caused a fire to spread quickly through a building in the Poconos.
As a result, a car audio shop and two apartments in East Stroudsburg were destroyed.
Firefighters battled the early-morning blaze on Henry Street in East Stroudsburg.
The chief said strong gusty winds quickly spread the fire throughout the building that used to have two apartments and a car audio business.
"The wind, it added to it, blowing the fire from one end to the other though the openings that were in there," said East Stroudsburg Fire Chief Larry Bunting.
He added four people lived in the apartments. Everyone got out safely.
The business was destroyed by the fire. The owner said he moved into the building two months ago.
"I wanted to cry, you know, but there's nothing you can do. You put all that work into it something and it just burning right in front of you. You can't do anything about it. I feel bad for the girls in the apartments upstairs. Everyone lost a lot of things," said Xclusive Audio owner Daniel Aponte.
The fire chief said the building is destroyed. Three quarters of the second floor is now on the first floor. The situation made it difficult for firefighters to get inside the building to fight the fire.
Instead, the chief said, the crew had to battle the blaze from the outside, making it especially difficult to find hot spots in the building.
The chief believes the blaze started between the first and second floors. He does not believe it is suspicious.
As for the business Aponte, he is not sure where he goes from here.
"Probably to Petsmart to find a job or something. I don't know what I'm going to do now," Aponte said. "I was self employed, doing this since I was 18, now I'm 22. This was a stepping stone for me. Now it's just burnt, can't do nothing."
A spokesperson with East Stroudsburg University said one of the fire victims is a senior at the university, scheduled to graduate this month.
She and the other fire victims are being helped by the American Red Cross.
