Hello all,
Just over a week ago I lost my best friend and mentor that taught me everything about firefighting. This man was unique, he always gave a 100% to everything he did. Often as he fought a fire his wife and family were trying to help the people who lost everything, collecting donations for clothing and other essentials. He is not someone that will be easily replaced. However his family is now the one needing help to pay for his funeral and to help with everyday expenses. His wife was injured on the job and is unable to work to help care for his two children and the two he adopted. I am reaching out to all of you in firefighter nation to help this family as I would do for any firefighter. I have set up a gofundme account, and not sure of how that works if it has to go to the funeral home or if it can be sent to his family, so hopefully I can figure all that out. I do have a paypal account if anyone just wants to donate just to his family. The link to the gofundme will be at the bottom of this post, anyone wanting to help just his family please contact me directly. I am aware this is a hard time for all of us but I hope that some of you may be able to help. Thanks.

Forgive me to be skepitcal here, but you just joined the site on Monday and your first commentary at all was a solitation of funds for a fallen mentor. My trust factor here is really not firing on all cylinders. All we have is what you say here, a link to some account thing you set up as well as a mention of a Paypal account.
How about instead of that, if this is legit, a link to the actual family issues, the name of this guy and the dept he worked for. I would think something legit could and should be verified by outside sources here as opposed to just giving money to some annonymous account.
John I understand what you are saying, I agree that was probably not the best way to introduce myself. At the time my membership was approved I was dealing with his loss. The post was simply a reaching out for help for his family. I have raised 300.00 so far and with the cost of a funeral that is just a drop in the bucket. His name was Tim Allen and he worked for Garden City Fire in Savannah Georgia. You would find his obituary on Savannahnow.com I dont know what day it was published but he passed away February 26th. If you would like more information I will provide what I can, while still trying to protect the privacy of the family and the grieving process. The funeral was handled by Fairhaven Funeral home in Garden City GA.
