Freelancing/Lack of accountability is number 1!
Number two would have to be lack of training. To often folks will get their certifications and then try anything they can to avoid further training.
Last but not least is thinking you know it all. This will only do 2 things, piss off everyone else and get you hurt.
I'm sorry, but I can't let the opportunity pass without commenting that;
There have been several-check that-HUNDREDS of juniors and newbies come to this website as new members AND new firefighters and reach out and ASK for advice.
They were lucky to get 10 replies.
Members WEREN'T fighting with each other about profile pictures, gender issues or what type of advice was being dispensed.
This has all the earmarks of someone posting who seeks the attention and got exactly what they wanted; whether they admit it or not.
Had the title for the thread simply been "Help a FIREFIGHTER Out"; there would have been several lookies, but few replies.
It's a study of human-especially male-behavior.
And that it all I will say.
I don't want her thinking that this old man is trying to upset, embarrass or otherwise throw water on her efforts to learn here.
At least she posted a profile picture and jumped into the discussions.

Ok....I guess I should say I did choose the title for the reason that it is an attention grabber.....the only reason I went for that title was b/c when I post regular titles I dont get but a few responses.....but it would seem that this title hasn't done much good either, for atleast one whole page is nothing but people arguing over my intents......and in regards to my photo that is what I look like.....I shouldn't have to have a plainjane or tom boy like photo to gain respect on here....the fact that I have gotten as far as i have and that the field of ems and firefighting means so much to me as well as the fact that I wish to learn more should get me the respect that you would give anyother fellow firefighter or ems provider.......I am a person and I am one of you wether I am career or volunteer......
The most common mistakes in the professional services are people who take 2 steps when they should take 1. Meaning people who are trained the right way and get tunnel vision and do it the wrong way. One main key for rookies to consider is the veterans in the department know what is right and what is not so just listen and watch the other guys/girls in the department

Exactly and proves my point.
I did a thread entitled "Is It Appropriate"; chose the title as a tease and I got 17 replies.
You did the same with "Help A Girl Out" and to date, you have gotten 85 replies.
I conclude that the only difference is our profile pictures, because if you look at MY profile, I have been at it a little longer than you.
And I can assure you that I have never been challenged on my "intents".
