Hey everybody- just wondering what, if anything, you all do as a dept for Halloween. We take out our apparatus and ride around and hand out candy to trick-or-treaters, while at the same time keeping an eye out for suspicious activity. Its the whole "the more eyes watching the better" idea. Anyway, what do you all do?

We have this really weird thing we do....1st...everyone dresses up like firefighters then.....Are you ready for this....? We find a structure on fire and run inside with these heavy hoses and try and put the fire out.....!!!!! Now, how weird is that ...? LOL
We hand out candy at our station and give the kids and folks tours of the trucks and naturally hand out fire prevention materials ( that is the #1 job! ). Some of our stations take the engine out to the neighborhoods and hand out but our sta. has the comfort of the trunk-or-treat being right next door.
Weather permitting, we have a little Halloween parade and then we have games and treats back at the fire station for the kiddies.
Been doing it for over 20 years now.

Not as weird as if you didn't!
Man Art.....you must be really tired...a parade for 20 years....Holy cow....!!! (sorry has been one of those weeks).....LOL
As our town is located on a state highway where no one seems to no how to slow down,we position our trucks at planned locations to bring attention to those crazy motorist that are out.We also pass out treats at the station.
we have a haunted house on the 30-31 it does pretty good last year we had about 6000 people go in
We rather do that..lol but actually for the last 70 years we have the 3rd largest Halloween parade
treat for the kids or firefighters...? The "crazy motorists....are those the ones driving the trucks or passing cars...?? LOL........Paul
From 16:45 until 22:00 our department will be providing traffic control(vehicular AND pedestrian) at the City's Halloween Block Party. We block off the streets and the kids go around town and TorT at the businesses in about a 9 block area.

I, personaly, will be stationed at the intersection of 3rd Ave and Old Federal Rd. Assigned as Driver/Engineer of Engine #2131. I will be wearing my best class B uniform and handing out goodies to all the little chi'runs who come to town!

I'm thinking about waiting until the sun goes down, then ditching my shirt, pulling on my bunker pants and setting a boombox on the front deck. Strapping on my helmet and dancing like a Chippendale boy!!!!

On second thought, that may be more traumatic than scarey...

TCSSpooky!

Reg
Hey as long as you've got your helmet on to make it safety-ish...
ah yes and a vest..or at least a G string with a 5 Point break away feature and ANSI covered.
