They say it's a good idea, especially for emergency care personel, who come in contact with many different people.
I, myself, will not be getting it. I've never recieved the flu shot, either, nor will I ever. If I get it, I get it, natural selection. It won't MAKE you sick if you get the shot,..it's a dead virus. IF you do happen to get sick it;s because you were already infected before you got the shot. Just in case you were wondering. I say, hey, it's your body and your mind, do what you think is best.
I was sick my first day in they sent me home the rest of the trick h1n1 wanted to curl up and die the messed up thing the day I went off the city started offering ffs the shot
that's gotta suck. Well I guess you don't need the shot now, eh? Hope you recovered quickly.
P.S., might wanna start using some punctuation. Took me a couple trys to decypher it.
I am dyslexic dont realy care about punctuation or spelling. but thanks
alrighty
Because you get the shot doesn't mean you cant be a carrier???? and the levels of mercury in the vaccine, has a chance of causing damage to the nervous system???
My wife is a health care pro and she's not getting it. She has already gotten the regular flu shot but she just isn't sold on the swine shot yet.
I don't think I would be injecting something in my body that was created too quickly, and really not enough time in researching the vaccine and it's findings. This is my opinion on it , but that's a decision you have to make!
I am also not too sure about the shot. I had a flu shot about 5 months ago and about a month ago I had the flu. I just do not have faith in the swine flu shot and for the flu shot in general.
Thats how I exact feel about it, but Im more worried about my little ones!
I was talking with a co-worker who attended a forum where the guest speaker was a medical professional. (I forget what the agency or workplace was, he wasn't a gov't worker, but anyway the guy knew his stuff regarding vaccines and such)
Anyway, my co-worker was saying this guy dispelled many rumors about the H1N1 vaccine and how things are done. Despite what the media says, the H1N1 vaccine has gone through the regular process of creating any flu vaccine and is really no different than the regular flu shot. Apparently the nasal vaccine is better than the injected, but that is up to the individual. When the vaccines are made it takes about 5 months to create a vaccine. If one recalls, in years past the regular flu shot may or not have been for the type of flu going around. There are many different strains and the trick is to get the right one widely available. With H1N1 they know what the strain is right now, but if you do get the flu expect to be OOC for a few days.

The other thing about the flu is the media frenzy it has become, but this strain is easily passed person to person, but not as deadly as the media makes it out to be. Whereas the Avian flu from several years ago was a more deadly strain but had difficulty passing from person to person. Basically, we see many people who get the flu, freak out, and call 911 without realizing there isn't anything EMS or the hospitals can really do.

Kind of makes me wish I could have attended, sounded like a good forum and coming from this guy, he is hard to impress, was impressed with the speaker. Too bad people will still freak out about the whole thing, but for vaccines, we were supposed to have had them by now. At this rate, by the time they become available for us the flu season will be over.
OK, so here is my 2 cents.. I always get the flu shot and I have never had any sort of reaction to it. This year I got the flu shot then 3-4 days later got the H1N1 shot. I wasn't as lucky with that shot. Roughly 48 hours after getting the shot, I fell ill to the flu. Yep, Influenza A.. Can you believe it?! I can't.. The only advantage is, it wasn't all that bad. Good fever, body aches, and a hell of a cough... Thats about it though.. Now, 3 days later, the only thing thats left is the cough. I'd say that if this is the worst I get it, I'll be GREAT.. Even knowing what I know now, I'd still do it over again..

Good Luck!
