ATHENS, Ga. - Firefighters in Athens say a fire at a chemical plant has been contained

Officials in Athens-Clarke County say the fire broke out about midnight at J and J Chemicals. They say that when firefighters arrived, flames were shooting hundreds of feet into the air.

The company makes chemicals for cleaning products.

Firefighters say they're concerned that some of the chemicals may have been released from the building. Environmental teams were surveying the situation Wednesday morning.

There are no reports of injuries.
