I am a Junior firefighter in Houston MO. My dept just started a junior firefighter program. We are not lucky enough to have quality fitting gear, the gear that I have is old, and doesnt fit in any shape or form. What I am asking is for ideas to help me to get the ball rolling on getting new gear. If you have ideas of funraisers, any place to get a good price on gear. Any thing that concerns this subject please let me know. Thank you my brother firefighters. Stay SAFE.
Well if there is enough of you junior firefighters, challenge the fire dept to a game of basketball or whatever kind of sport that you all have there, or if the police dept there has a group of juniors challenge them...Just food for thought...Good luck....
Have you thought about doing a Pancake Breakfast? We are a small community and have two fundraisers a year. One is a pancake and sausage breakfast and the other is what we call here in Illinois a "Smoker". The Smoker will not be an option for Juniors, but a breakfast is relatively easy to do with low overhead and you can add a bake sale to it. We send out flyers and tickets to everyone in our district. Alot of people just send the tickets back with donations so it is sort of a letter drive as well. We get very good support from our community and our district is very frugal with the tax money. We have been able to do alot of good things in the last 10 years because of that. Something else we are getting involved in this year is a haunted trail at a local township park. Just think outside the box. There are alot of things you can do. I do like the idea of a basketball, softball or football game against cops or other departments. I have actually tried to organize something like that here. The closest I have got is a charity boxing tournament that never quiet can to fruition. Let me know if you need some more info.
