Just a quick question. I'm from California and have my California FF1 certification. Does anyone know if the fire departments in Nevada hire or except California FF1 certification? Also, does anyone know of a way to get IFSAC/Pro Board certified using my California FF1. Thanks for the help everyone.

Hate to state the obvious, but wouldn't you be better off contacting some of the potential recipients of your services yourself? #1-shows them your interested and can figure things out yourself, seeming more professional, and #2- you get the information first hand and are able to ask questions yourself once you have their attention.

Not trying to be a d--k here,,,just offering my opinion since you asked the question.

Good luck to you

I did call one department and was waiting for a call back. They said they do accept California FF1 certs at that dept but I wanted my fellow firefighters advice on whether or not it would be realistic and if anyone else had been hired with a Nevada fire dept with a California FF1. Didn't mean to step on anyones toes just wanted some advice from my fellow brothers.

Hey josh

No toes were being stepped on.

I am not from the US, so I don't have the exact answer for you, however, I just break it down to the bottom line. Are you in a position to apply to the fire dept's in that area as of now? If you already had verbal/written confirmation that they will take your Cali. FF1, then apply to start the application process to be a firefighter in their area. The way I see it, you are going to have to apply regardless, unless you are going for a volunteer position. And if that's the case, I would bet they would be happy to gain your pre-trained enrollment. I'm sure they will want to see you in action during training, so they can see what you retained and can mould you to their ways of doing things.

As most volly dept's have seen, there are some applicants who show up with various levels of training, from level 1 trained ( not yet taken the test), and up, who can barely remember how to don their gear. I'm sure that doesn't apply to you, but you see where they might be coming from. So don't be too offended if they question what you know.

I'm not sure if I was any help to you, but if anything, I bumped your topic to the top again so someone else might see it and provide the answers you are looking for.

Best of luck Josh.
