SPRINGFIELD, N.J. - Authorities say four firefighters were injured and 30 residents displaced when a fast-moving fire heavily damaged a building at a northern New Jersey apartment complex.

The Star-Ledger of Newark reports that the fire at the Short Hills Village complex in Springfield began around noon Friday when workers using torches accidentally set fire to the roof. They tried to extinguish it, but the fire quickly spread.

It took firefighters about two hours to extinguish the blaze.

Four firefighters were taken to area hospitals for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries. No residents were hurt.
