Former West Virginia Firefighters Charged with Arson, Conspiracy

CHARLES TOWN, W.Va. — Five former members of a volunteer fire department in Jefferson County have been charged with arson and conspiracy.

The Journal reports that a grand jury indicted the men Wednesday. One former firefighter also is charged with petit larceny.

They are accused of setting fires while serving with the Blue Ridge Mountain Volunteer Fire Co. in Harpers Ferry.

According to court records, one fire was set in January at a vacant two-story residence on Charles Town Road. Another fire occurred at a structure near Charles Town on April 12, 2010. An outbuilding in the county was torched on Sept. 10, 2010.
