FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. - Three police officers have been taken to the hospital after a man tried to kill himself by setting his home on fire.
Fort Lauderdale Police say the unidentified man set two fires in the house and torched a car in the driveway early Friday morning. He was hospitalized in critical condition after firefighters pulled him out a window.
Officers were taken to the hospital as a precaution because it was unclear what chemicals the man used to spark the fire. Police spokeswoman Detective Kathy Collins says the officers appear to be fine.
A large dog died in the blaze and a neighbor was evacuated as a precaution.
