PEOPLE......ya gotta pay attention !!!!!!!! From general public to emergency responders. I've also seen first hand that those big, bright pylons alone will not stop people from going through them. We also set our rigs in a protective position, but that only protects (or is supposed to protect) the victim location, not the rest of the responers. I wasn't there, so I'm just going by the news stories, but there needs to be people watching the traffic. There should have been no excuse for someone going through the pylons or barriers. We need to be more proficient at protecting our a**es. This sort of accident may or may not be a frequent event, but it's still happening none-the-less. It is preventable. Scene safety and personal safety is #1. Get the driver's attention
Maybe we should get one of those devices that shuts down the computer system of vehicles. They cross the barrier, they get zapped.
KSHF
you said it " theres no reason why our members can't do our job safely" but of course theres always a driver who wants to be curious ass to whats going on..not paying attention to traffic services on scene directing traffic AWAY from the scene so our people can do our job....
it never fails, every time there is a accident some stupid driver decides to go thru the safety zone and cause another accident...
