Flash Fire Exposes Boise Paramedics, Firefighter to Chemical Fumes

BOISE, Idaho - Boise officials say a Micron employee suffered first- and second-degree burns in a flash fire and three emergency responders were taken to the hospital as a precaution due to possible exposure to chemicals.

The employee was burned on his arms and possibly his face and neck in a flash fire in a chemical disposal area on the East Boise campus at 8:50 a.m. Tuesday.

Boise fire department spokeswoman Lynn Hightower says two Ada County paramedics and a Boise firefighter who interacted with the burned employee exhibited some symptoms of being exposed to chemical fumes and were taken the hospital.

Boise police officials say it appears the employee was wearing required protective gear and working in a small room when some chemicals reacted, causing a small flash fire.
