After a recent field fire where we "misplaced" our best brush truck into a 4 foot wash out we started kicking around the idea of getting an All Terrain Response Unit. I am wanting to know how many departments have and use these and what your thoughts are about it. Thanks in advance.

Have had one now for 4 or 5 years. Ranger 6x6 and its set up for wildland fire, as well as rescue. First experince with them was at a 300 plus acre grass fire that was in early spring. We took our brush truck up and a engine/tender and once we parked them I never seen them the rest of the day. It was all hump work, as the hill sides were steep and the bottoms were wet. Two brush trucks got burried that day and if it wasn't for 2 depts having Rangers set up for fire fighting we would have had a much longer day. Went through stuff that you could hardly walk through and got to wherever we needed them. Within 2 months our own dept had put the funds together to purchase one and its been a blessing ever since. We are also responsible for over 40 miles of ATV trail in the district. I would highly recomend getting one, there are several makes out there but we are super happy the the Ranger and the company that built our box is local and do an amazing job.
