Firefighter Associations
We are in a combination dept. 25 vols and 6 full time and 2 PT. Other than the PT'ers everyone is involved in the depts business one way or the other by paying their Yearly dues. The president, the Vice president, and the treasurer are the Vols, ou secretary is a paid guy and done that job for 15 years, and has done a good job at it. he has 18yrs as a member of the dept. Now because there is going to be a coup and get rid of the top 2 there comeback is he can't be the secretary because he is paid and can't be a volunteer, Oh ye he is my son so go figure since its me that is going for the overthrow of these 2. So its their counter I am sure. They are saying the only people that can belong to the firemans Ass. are the volunteers. Well just wondering if any other COMBO Depts with firemans Ass. are devided in the association Vol/ with no paid members.

I couldn't follow all of your post but my county has an active firefighters association that is comprised of both all paid & combination departments. Your association should have bi-laws that address the issues your having.

Ye I am sure it does just wondering what the other associations might be doing. It's mainly about outgoing officers that don't like it and are trying to come up with new way to get around it. We have the votes so its a done deal, we just need our paid guys along with us. They are and that is what has the officers trying to oust them. I am going into the BI-LAWS tomorrow and get their final nail to oust them. thanks for the reply.
