FAIRFIELD, Conn. - Fairfield officials are trying to determine what caused a fire that damaged a building at a convalescent home complex and forced authorities to evacuate part of an adjoining hospital. No one was injured.

The fire broke out shortly after 1:30 p.m. Sunday at a three-story building housing rehabilitation services and a residential area next to the Carolton Chronic and Convalescent Hospital. Officials say one person in the building at the time got out safely.

Officials say about 50 patients in the wing of the hospital closest to the burning building were moved to another wing for about an hour as a precaution.

Fire officials say several propane tanks caught fire outside and helped fuel the blaze, which was brought under control in about 30 minutes.
