SOUTH BEND, Ind. - A fire halted production at a northern Indiana factory and sent hundreds of employees outside.

No injuries were reported from the fire that was reported about noon Thursday at the Honeywell plant on South Bend's west side.

Honeywell spokeswoman Karen Crabtree says it was a small fire that didn't cause sprinklers to come on inside the factory that produces fuel lines and carbon brakes for commercial and military aircraft.

The South Bend Tribune reports that first-shift employees were allowed to leave the property about 1:30 p.m. The plant was to resume normal operations with the start of its second shift.

Crabtree said the factory has about 700 employees.
